Learning of the top 70 honor (posted on behalf of RDC member George Whittaker)
By HIS-REIhttp://www.realdealcommunity.com/members/profile/790
THIS is American Idol! No, wait, it's not! It feels like it though. I'm not one to write with much emotion, however I must say, this is truly an honor for me. I learned of this by reading my email this AM, and had multiple people offer their congratulations on making the top 70. So I went and looked at the list and sure enough I was listed. With all the trouble I've had trying to copy/paste to this blog and doing my first ever video - I truly thought I would not make this round. Now that I did, I hope that American doesn't get a vote here to move me on to the final round because I'm not the best at self promotion or building myself up for votes. Enough of the American Idol-isms.
I do need to thank some of you, especially those who have sent congratulatory notes to me; I truly appreciate you and the notes.
Even though this is my opportunity to outshine the others chosen to be included in this list of 70, instead I just want to thank the executive team for choosing me to get this far. If chosen for the next round, all I can say is my commitment o this will be unwavering and I will do the very best I can to help HIS grow and in return I will obligate myself to learning whatever I need to learn from HIS to help my own business grow.
This whole process is "learning". The leadership is learning about me. When I'm chosen for the final 36, the leadership will learn what I can do to help build HIS. I will learn what HIS has to teach. Learning is what this is all about.
Thanks again team! When I make the lucky 36, you will not be let down in what I do for HIS and I know that I will not be disappointed in what I will be learning.

10 Tips For Successful Masterminding
By Pat O'Connell, Millionaire in Training
1. Pose Questions.
Ask your team what they would do in your particular situation.
Questions make you and the others think.
2. Be
Specific. Our minds and the minds of our
mastermind partners work best with specific information. The more
specific you are, the more specific (and helpful) the ideas will
be.
3. Encourage and Acknowledge. Part of the value of your mastermind is to give and receive encouragement and acknowledgement. Make sure you do your part.
4. Complete Your Intentions and Commitments. And submit to your team before your meeting (preferably the day before). In doing so, you clarify your own thinking while making your goals, projects, intentions and progress readily available to your teammates. You may access this form below.
5. Focus on the Main Thing. You don’t have to review every detail with your team because they already have your Intentions and Commitment Form. Instead, focus on the key areas on which you would like help.
6. Share Your Work. If you’re working on a project, creating a website or writing a proposal, send your plans to your team and ask for their feedback. Don’t overdo it, but getting the input of the rest of the team can be invaluable.
7. Don’t Be Embarrassed. Tell the truth. If you haven’t done what you committed to doing, say so. And then recommit. This is not a competition.
8. Share Your Pain. We all struggle from time to time. The intention is not to dwell on it, but to acknowledge it and look for ways through it or around it. What does our pain have to teach us? How are we creating it? What are we resisting? Explore, learn and make some changes when warranted.
9. Challenge Them and Yourself. The intention is not only to achieve your goals but to grow in the process. Make commitments that are challenging. Stretch yourself by going for something bigger and better. In Diamond Club we practice “Carefrontation”.
10. Share Your Decisions.
In any given week, we’re called upon to make many choices. What
are the choices you’re wrestling with? Share the bigger ones and
benefit from the perspective, experience and wisdom of your
mastermind team.

Here is why Paul Durfees WILL be one of the Lucky 36 MMM Challenge Students
By HIS-REI3/26/2011 6:13:12 PM
To: Sam Ally, Jo Amick, Dana Lange and Alex Zokan
I understand that the four of you are the selection committee for the MMM Challenge and I wanted to say Hi. I posted my “blog” (my first ever) on the MMM Challenge section but am unsure of its posting correctly so it would be a good idea to copy it here in hopes that one or more of you see this email.
"Here is why Paul WILL be one of the Lucky 36 MMM Challenge Students"
First of I would like to say “Thanks” to Danny Welsh & Rick Melero for this invitation. Second my apologies because this is not video blog, my first web cam is on its way but too late for this entry.
Everything else is ready to go. There is a dedicated room for an office with a Steelcase 3 drawer file cabinet, an office jet color printer-fax, a network laser printer with duplex, a flat bed scanner and me. I personally can not wait to fast forward in this new career following your guidance and expertise.
I don’t believe I am any more or less qualified than all of the rest of the people who have also applied and are ready to go but I have something to do and it can’t wait.
I live in the Pacific Northwest and there are way too many people here that are in bad shape with their properties and I want to be the transition person that can assist them in changing their circumstances and make their financial future better by presenting them with options that will get them where they would like to be. In order to do that timely and well I need the advice and mentoring from people who have already been there and done that and the timing of your offer could not have come at a better time (unless it had come sooner) to make an impact in my community, state and region.
Thanks again for considering me and I am looking forward to working with you all.

THE MMM 2 CHALLENGE 2011
What an amazing program! Thank you for the opportunity to be a part of something so exciting, challenging and rewarding!
What I Would Like to Accomplish
When I have successfully completed the six-month MMM Challenge 2, I look forward to having:
- Exceeded the expectations of my Mentor
- Successfully completed each step in the Challenge
- Effectively implemented what I learned
- Seen results in a tangible way
I recognize that this Challenge is not about me, singularly. It is about how I will impact the lives of others and contribute to society - whether it’s by mentoring others, contributing to important causes, hands-on work or by other tangible means. I’m simply the conduit to make things happen!
A Little Background
“When I grow up, I want to be in real estate!” I said that up until about six years ago when I finally made the decision that I was going to finally grow up - and I got my real estate license! True, my hair is white and I do wear glasses, but I come from a family where longevity is anticipated and at least three of my ancestors (all women) lived to be over 100. So, the way I look at it, I’m in my prime! Or, I could dye my hair, wear contacts, get a face lift, and the list could go on, but you get the picture. Today, there are many men and women who reach the top of their success at “a more mature age,” shall we say, and I continue to have the enthusiasm for learning, laughing, and living large!
I grew up in North Carolina, the child of parents who had a “friendly divorce.” I was very fortunate to have exceptional parents and always felt loved and never suffered from the emotional scars you’ll often hear about.
I lived with my Mother, and financially we lived from month-to-month. Because she suffered severe migraine headaches almost weekly, I often lived with members of our family or family friends for extended periods of time. So, I’m fortunate to have a number of “second Moms,” and I always loved it when I was with my Mom.
I attended an excellent boarding school for grades 9 through 12 and gained lifelong friends.
I’m blessed with a wonderful husband. Of course, for years I’ve heard husbands and wives say that same thing or similar accolades on Wheel of Fortune and have often wondered if they were really in an abusive marriage and all their kids were in prison! However, I really am
blessed with a wonderful husband! He’s from Alabama and I’m from North Carolina. We met in Mississippi, got engaged while he was in Tennessee and I was in Massachusetts and married in Michigan.
And then we continued moving. Soon after we were married, we became part of an evangelistic team (Billy Graham-type meetings) and traveled the eastern part of the US and Canada. We would be in meetings for six weeks, off two weeks and would repeat the cycle. After our son was born a few years later, we enjoyed pastoring and settling down.
Direction of Professional Life
I’ve enjoyed being an active Realtor for six years now and got my Broker license two years ago. I presently serve on the Professional Standards Committee and the Bylaws & Policies Task Force of the Orlando Regional Realtor Association Board. Prior to these assignments, I served on the Grievance/Ethics Committee for two years.
Over the last couple of years, I have more and more wanted to focus in the area of investment properties. So, I joined a local investment group and have been attending the monthly meetings as well as several of the weekly ad hoc groups. However, to really take it to the level I want to, it would require more knowledge, time and money. My husband medically retired a number of years ago and I’ve been the bread winner for some time. So, I decided to learn as much as I could and hopefully a window of opportunity would open up at some point. I also checked into a couple of mentoring programs, but each time it came down to the fact that I couldn’t afford it! Well, less than two weeks ago, I received a recorded call about the MMM 2 program and the amazing opportunity that it offers. All of a sudden, I felt a slight breeze coming through that window of opportunity! And it is my desire that that window will open wide and let the sunshine in … and I am in that Great Group of the Final 36!!!
In addition to receiving the call above, I had two successful real estate Sales Associates contact me three weeks ago and asked to put their real estate license under me. The timing is excellent, because when I am chosen, they will be able to assist during the times that I’m not available.
“HERE IS WHY I WILL BE ONE OF THE LUCKY 36 MMM CHALLENGE STUDENTS”
I have listed below, in alphabetical order, qualities that I feel are important to have as a candidate and which I feel I would bring to the table. It is not an exhaustive list, but does touch on values which I think are important.
-- A Passion to Learn
I should have failed the 2nd grade. Actually, I should have failed the 1st!
The bottom line is that I had a very difficult time learning my first few years in school. And not until the 5th grade did I have a teacher that took special interest in me and spent many days after school teaching me what I needed to know for my grade level. She was a true mentor to me and remains very special in my memory.
Years later, when I had the privilege of teaching grades 1 through 4, I remembered my experiences and could identify with the children that were having a hard time. And because I had a dedicated teacher, I could also be a dedicated teacher to those children.
Over the years, my passion for learning has continually grown. I take every opportunity I can to attend classes, seminars, listen to tapes, watch videos, etc.
I realize that my success will not meet its true potential without a mentor, and to have the opportunity to be a part of this Challenge is truly exciting!
-- Attitude
Wow, attitude plays such an important role in the work environment! A bad attitude is like the apple in the barrel – just one can affect all the others. It sets the tone of the work environment, and can rear its ugly head through anger, complaining, whining, griping, mumbling, gossiping, put downs, etc.
I have been told many times that I have such a good attitude. The bottom line is that I was born with my attitude. I’m very fortunate.
-- Detail Oriented
As the saying goes, “The devil is in the details.” A cursory review of documents, or materials compiled from due diligence, can cause unnecessary problems, cost time – and money.
I have a “good eye” for details, and receive a call each year from my previous employer requesting that I do the final proof reading of the annual report just prior to sending it to the printers.
-- Motivated
I’m sure that the logical conclusion is that the older you get, the more you want to slow down and you become less motivated. Well, if that is the rule, I am the exception. My “sticktoitiveness” is exceptional. When I start something, I am motivated to get it done – and done well! It’s as if I have a little engine inside of me that keeps me moving and motivated until I’ve completed the task - whether it’s grunt work or an important project. (As I’m typing this, the Everyready Battery commercial comes to mind!) I’m not an 8-5:00 person with my work day over as soon as the clock turns 5:00 p.m. I’ll work early, late and in between to accomplish my goal.
I’ve always had the philosophy that, “Work is fun!” My son grew up being aware of that and called me a few months ago and said, “You know, Mom, you’re right, work is fun.” Made my day!
And I’ll add here that I also enjoy the relaxing moments like lying on the beach, reading a book, enjoying a great meal with friends, etc. I enjoy the task at hand … and if it happens to be eating chocolate, so be it!
-- Professionalism
I believe in professionalism. BusinessDictionary.com defines professionalism as: "Meticulous adherence to undeviating courtesy, honesty and responsibility in one's dealings with customers and associates, plus a level of excellence that goes over and above the commercial considerations and legal requirements." Professionalism is not about your job title or self-proclaimed worth. It is not about self-perception at all. Professionalism is about personal ethics, quality work and a quality attitude.
o One thing that is not stated above, but certainly implied, is confidentiality. I strongly believe in holding any information given to me in confidence as a matter of trust between me and that person. I am often amazed at the looseness some handle information given to them in confidence.
o I would also include integrity. HRWorld.com has an excellent definition: Integrity is the integration of outward actions and inner values. A person of integrity is the same on the outside and on the inside. Such an individual can be trusted because he or she never veers from inner values, even when it might be expeditious to do so. A leader must have the trust of followers and therefore must display integrity. Honest dealings, predictable reactions, well-controlled emotions, and an absence of tantrums and harsh outbursts are all signs of integrity. A leader who is centered in integrity will be more approachable by followers.
-- Technology
I get excited about technology! I love all the "bells and whistles!" In the 80’s, I was fortunate to be in the right place at the right time. Florida Hospital Orlando was changing from manual typewriters to desktop computers. I was the assistant to the COO and he was responsible for overseeing the entire process. So, as they were choosing the brand and software, etc., I was the guinea pig and got to have hands-on experience with the computers they were considering. So, I “grew up with" learning the software and applications and haven’t stopped since.
In August of last year I was one of the first on the waiting list for the Sprint HTC EVO 4G. I love it! It does everything! Don’t get me started!
Thank you so much for this opportunity! Whether or not I am chosen, this has been and continues to be a great experience! I’m sure this program will continue to grow and allow entrepreneurs to reach goals that they, otherwise, would not have been able to. Much success!

Here is why Mark Macauley WILL be one of the Lucky 36 MMM Challenge Students
By HIS-REIWHEN STARTING THIS JOURNEY I KNEW THAT I WOULD NEED SOME HELP TO DISCOVER WHAT AVENUES OF REAL ESTATE TO TAKE 1ST.
I DID WHAT A LOT OF PEOPLE DID IN STARTING OUT ,BY GETTING SOME COURSES GOING TO SEMINARS AND LISTENING TO WEBINARS AND TRYING TO DECIPHER WHO WAS GOING TO LEAD THE CHARGE FOR ME !!
WELL I FOUND OUT THAT THE ONLY CHARGE STARTING OUT WAS A CHARGE CARD!!
MANY OF STUDY DAYS AND NIGHTS THAT LED TO GREAT READING BUT NOT A STARTING POINT.
I FINALLY NEEDED THAT OTHER COMPONENT,A
MENTOR/MENTORS.
I WENT TO A SEMINAR AND MET A GREAT COUPLE WHO WERE DOING SHORTSALES AT THAT TIME AND HAD A GOOD SYSTEM IN PLACE.
THEY HAD NOT TAKEN ON ANY STUDENTS OR OTHERS BECAUSE THIS WAS THEIR BUSINESS AND NOT SURE THEY WOULD HAVE THE TIME TO DEDICATE TO ANOTHERS BUSINESS. AFTER SPEAKING WITH WE CONTINUED TO TALK FOR ABOUT A WEEK THEN I DECIDED TO GO TO THERE OFFICE (WE LIVE IN DIFFERENT STATES) AND SEE IF WE COULD HAVE A MEETING AND WORK SOMETHING OUT. AFTER INTERVIEWING WITH THEM BOTH ,I WAS STARTED AND HOOKED.
I BROUGHT THE DEALS ,TALKED AND DEALT WITH THE HOMEOWNERS AND THEY DID ALL THE NEGOTIATING WITH THE LENDERS.
AFTER A WHILE I WENT OUT ON MY OWN WHICH HAS HAD UPS AND DOWNS FOR SURE. IT WAS ALL CHALLENGING BUT COMPLETELY EXCITING.
I WANT TO KNOW MORE
I HAVE A BURNING DESIRE TO LEARN
I HAVE GUMPTION TO ASK QUESTIONS AND LEARN
I HAVE A CHILD LIKE FASCINATION AND WAY ABOUT ME
I AM AN ASSET
I AM AMBITIOUS
AND I AM COACHABLE
I'M FREINDLY:)

GOOD LUCK TO YOU ALL AND HOPE TO TALK SOON

“Tell me and I will forget
Show me and I may remember
Involve me and I will understand”
(Unknown author)
I once saw this some place and I wrote it down and have kept it ever since.
One of the main qualities they stated they are looking for in the challenge is determination. I have purchased books, tapes, CD’s on Real Estate. I have been involved in a multi level marketing company that attempts to teach Real Estate. I have attended seminars in person as well as on line. I have worked with two different investors. One did his business in a questionable way and tried to remain hidden form the people he was
actually doing business with. The other failed to make good on an agreement we had in writing. In spit of all of this I have not yet completed one single deal. All of this has given me some basic knowledge, but not enough to get the job done. However by having a basic knowledge I do not walk in with the attitude that I already know all of this. If I had the answers or knew how to do it I would not be writing this. I come with an open mind that is interested in learning form this that truly know the business and work it on a daily basis.
The quote above states “involve me and I will understand”. I feel that this is exactly what M&M is offering, a chance to be involved and not just a book or a CD that tells half of the story. They are offering a chance to be mentored and a guiding hand through the process.
If it were not for determination I would have given up on the dream of one day being financially independent in my own Real Estate business. I have had a major interest in Real Estate of well over 10 years. After each set back at not obtaining the right tools to get the job done I could have easily just given up. There is not a day that goes by that my email box receives an offer of a CD, seminar, or some type of system that they claim if you follow will allow you to become rich. The information they provide may be useful, but as of yet I have not found the right one, or at least not one that I could afford.
Financially I am close to the bottom rung of the ladder. Currently I am on Social Security Disability which barely gives me enough to pay my bills. Each month when I get my government check I become discouraged with my situation. Then I realize that there are many people far worse off than I am. Just look at all of the recent natural disasters that have happened around the world. I see this and it makes we want to continue to find
what I am looking for. My medical condition is not serious but keeps me from working the carrier I was trained for. I am not looking for sympathy, what I am looking for is someone to believe in me and provide me with the right tools to get the job done.
If chosen I will do what ever it takes to learn the business with the proper mentorship and guidance. I will do my best to listen and learn from those that are currently doing the business and are successful in this business. If I am not chosen I will continue to look for the right opportunity, I know it’s there; I just have to fine it.

Why Mark Medlin WILL be Chosen as one of the Lucky 36 MMM Students.
By HIS-REIhttp://www.realdealcommunity.com/members/profile/10783
Why mark Medlin will be one of the 36 MMM Students.....
Desire and persistence are a given, to achieve anything worthwhile.
What about motivation? Where is my "Why?"
It's a burn; it's internally driven, not outwardly affected. It
doesn't matter what "they" may say; "they" don't pay my bills. There
is money flowing all around, despite the negative news. All I need to
do is learn how to insert myself into the stream, and let some of it
flow through me. If others can do it, and I do what they have done,
then I can do it too.
Do you realize how little extra income it would take to change most
peoples' lives? It's ludicrous; and I am not being demeaning. Let's
face it - $500 per month would change the way some families relate to
each other. It's widely known that one of the three top
tension-producing components in a family today is money. I don't
think, that in most cases, the problem is too much money. I think it's
the opposite. There is plenty to go around.
Money is, in one view, nothing more than a scorecard to measure your
amount of service to others. There are a lot of hurting people in our
country today, and I want to help others, as well as myself. So, what
can I do to help them? Cut their grass? Wash their car? Is that
helping someone?
How about, instead, I support some worthwhile charities. Give. Most of
us are too broke to do that, though. I want to,.... No. I NEED to
change that.
Let's face it, people... a bake sale just isn't going to fill this
financial hole. It takes money. REAL money. It's out there. And in
spite of those who decry our nation’s economic system and it’s flaws,
money in itself is neither good nor evil. It is a tool, and is thus
used for good or for evil, depending on the condition of one’s heart.
And this is, STILL, the greatest nation on earth.
Even so, let’s be reminded -
There are 3 kinds of people in this country:
Those that make it happen-
Those that watch it happen-
And those that stand around saying - WHAT HAPPENED?
I need to make it happen. What about you?
