Lessons from Rick Melero's "Reality Check" Video

First Lesson - Bad habits and terrible circumstances in our lives are due more to internal factors than the externals such as genetics and the environment. At the root of this problem is our mental attitude (aptitude follows attitude). Even then, it is our deepest thoughts - at a subconscious level, that sets the wheels turning in our lives. A thought hitches a ride on an emotion. That emotion if strong enough will lead us to an action. That action takes us through one of two doors: for better or for worse.

Second Lesson - A life is like a big train. It is not easily set in motion. Once in motion, it is not easily stopped. A single thought is not enough to wreck a life nor bless it with success and riches. A great ship or submarine rises or falls by adding or removing lots of "ballast." A barrel of water won't do. It is the continual or constant repetition of the process that produces the results that are eventually "set in concrete" as actions shape the character.

Third Lesson - The process of renewing the mind needs a spark to get the process going. Most of us are quite aware of our shortcomings but lack a basis for wanting change. For some, life is what it is and no change is necessary. Yet others are content to blame their heritage, their environment and every other thing except themselves. Still other's, accepting responsibility for their actions and their predicament, set upon a course to effect change by their own efforts, only to be disillusioned when they come upon challenges that they cannot conquer.
Romans 12:2
And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. Personally, I believe that this spiritual perspective is the only way to get true and lasting change. We must work with the assistance and resources that God has provided while constantly aligning our lives with His will.

Putting all together - We start, we move and end with the Spirit. The spirit of God convicts us to change. We begin to replace negative thoughts with positive ones. We slowly and consistently retrain our minds to align with the will of God. We bring our bodies/physical attributes under the subjection of our will. We seek mentors and other professionals to help us with our challenges and to make the path clear before us. We surround ourselves with caring supporters to reassure us when we stumble and celebrate us when we succeed.

Reality Check(Rick's Video)

By Angelica Lobo,Residential and Commercial Investor
Get to know God's voice so well that it would be easily discernable it is something powerful. To get to this point we need to spend time with Him. The more time we spend with God, the more we will know His voice.
And you know what!!!
God talks more than anyone you will ever meet, and He talks as often as you need.
Intimacy with God and harmony with His plans for us will not be possible unless we discern His voice.
He knows what is best for us. When He gives us a mission He will provide and equip us with what we need to acomplish that.
But then, sometimes we get rebellious and just decide to follow our own minds and think that everything will be OK.
You know what happens !?!
It will go wrong, you will fell bad about what you are doing or with yourself. The point is, you will soon realize that you can not run or hide from your call.
But you know what is even better!?!
God is always ready to forgive us. He doesn't consult our past errors to determine our future. He's not concerned about what we did yesterday, but what we do today.
Forget your mistakes, but not the lessons learned.
Accept God's will for your life, trust Him and wait on Him.

Self Talk - Get You Out of the Way of Your Success

By Dana J Lange, IAAMG Director, Real Estate Mentor
How often do you hear the voice in your head say little negative things?  Things like " I always do that, I'm so stupid" or "I can't do that...".  This internal voice can be the source for good or a source for negative.  Over the next few days listen to that inner voice and write down the negative things.  Then take that list and change it to a positive.  Write it down positively in three ways: I am, I can, I will.  Repeat these positive affirmations at least twice a day and watch for the positive changes in your life.

For example, if you say to yourself, "I can't find good real estate leads." Change it to: I am a deal maker, I can find great real estate leads, I will find a great lead today!

Could it really be that simple?  In a word, YES!  Do this in all areas of your life and your subconscious will go to work to help make it happen.  You will have to do the work, however you will no longer be standing in the way of your own success.  Take a look at the video below to gain additional insights.

Burn out, Fatigue can Produce Rebellion! Reality Check Video Review

By Jo, Commercial and Residential Investor, REI Trainer and
It's funny, we all know that we want great things out of life and we know we will have to make sacrifices to get them, for the most part.  We start off on our quest out of the purest of intentions, or even just with a high level of motivation and enthusiasm:  "Won't it be great when I....(fill in the blank)...make a million dollars!..or "Become the most successful investor in my area!"...or"Go and feed the hungry and heal the hurting in a 3rd world country!"  We excitedly start out on our journey, bags packed, plans and goals made, and somewhere along the way we start to realize that it is not as easy as we had imagined.  Or perhaps we did imagine the frustrations, the roadblocks along the way- but to Experience them is a whole other matter.  In Rick Melero's video, Reality Check Rebellion, he describes a mission trip that took extensive planning.  So much so, in fact, that by the time he got to his "destination", he was tired and didn't even want to fulfill some of the actual duties that were central to the trip (preaching).  Haven't we all been there?  Haven't we all set goals, "I will make an A in this class", and then when we realized all the effort it would take, settled for less?  Rick describes his attitude as selfish, and then rebellious.  I don't know that I have linked them exactly in that way, but I do agree.  Fatigue, weariness and other mental, emotional and even physical issues can drain us of our enthusiasm, and our original goal begins to get clouded, hazy and unclear.  We question why we were even going after it in the first place!  Reminds me of a story about a very large group of people who had just been freed from slavery- yes, real slavery- who experienced such fatigue, fear and frustration on their journey to a new and promised land that they actually were ready to pack back up and head back to the land of their enslavement!  Crazy?  No, human nature.  God gives us incredible dreams and vision for what he can do with our lives, and we love it!  Yes!  We will change the world!  But as we embark, we forget that we really need to continue to rely on the one who gave us the vision in the first place.  That the journey is not meant to be traveled alone- and if God can give us the Vision of the land of milk and honey, he will give us the strength to get there.  The quest becomes a lesson not on self-reliance, but on humility and reliance on God.  We are faced with deciding whether to have a much deeper level of trust in God than we thought we needed before we started- to reach beyond the fatigue, fears and exhaustion, and trust that it Will Work Out the way it's supposed to, if we just don't Quit ( Otherwise known as Rebelling).  And quitting is rebelling.  It is based in selfishness.  In how we feel, what we want, and in what we find comfortable; not in what's best for us and others.  Those people in the desert figured it out eventually, but it sure took a lot of prodding and some discipline from God to keep them moving in the right direction.  And the truth is- we Are them.  We need the prodding too!  Mostly, though, we need to accept the levels of intense discomfort at times and keep facing and moving in the right direction, and being humble enough to ask for help when we are getting tired.  To decide to never turn back the way we came.  Because where we're headed  has the most incredible blessings for us and the people we serve, that it is worth the sometimes very painful journey.  Rick got to preach, feed and clothe more people than he ever imagined on his missionary trip.  But only because he stuck it out and decided to turn back around in the direction of his dream, and fully obey what God had asked him to do.  And God blessed it.  We all struggle with the same frustrations and at times the struggle of pursuing things that God puts in our hearts.  But he puts in us his vision, and if we don't give up, we get to see it fulfilled with his help.  It's a view from a mountaintop held in our hearts, and it's irreplaceable.
