For HIS Glory
By Denise Brunke
Fellow Champions,
I want to share this wonderful story with you,
it's definitely applicable to our
Challenge.
Mark Jackson is an investor in
East Point, GA, and he sends me a
Sunday Devotional every week.
This is titled:
Gold
Metal Effort for God!
At the 2009 Kansas high school
state
Track Championship,
an unusual thing happened.
The team that won the girls 3,200-meter relay
was disqualified.
But what happened next was even more unusual.
The team that was awarded the state championship
by default turned right around and
gave their medals to the team
that had been disqualified!
With God, when you lose you win!
The first school, lost first place because judges
ruled that a runner had stepped out of her lane
as she handed off the baton.
That meant the second team,
moved up to first.
After receiving their medals,
the girls from the second team
saw the downtrodden looks on the faces
of the first girls team,
so they gave them their individual medals.
Why did they do this?
As the second school's coach put it:
"Our theme for the year was to run not for OUR
glory,
but for God's glory."
As a result of the girls' action,
their story was told throughout Kansas,
and God's name was lifted up.
When we set aside
our own interests and accomplishments
to recognize that it's better to care for
the interests of OTHERS (Phil. 2:4
),
we see God's name glorified.
Acting with grace and kindness toward others
is one of the best ways to point people to God
and the salvation found in Jesus.
Sharing Jesus is how you earn
a Gold Metal for God!
Now I realize there may be some of you
not so Spiritual......
but - the relevance to all of us here
comes into play
when you do put aside your self importance
for the sake of someone ELSE.
From what I see, those of you who have been
actively participating,
you ARE acting with grace and kindness
toward others.
For this I AM BLESSED!
When we reach out to others, everyone's blessed.
And it's a beautiful thing.
Most of you have hearts and minds of gold
and you're sharing that with others -
regardless of what happens this week,
if we all stay connected and committed,
WE ALL WIN!
You ARE the Head and NOT
the
Tail!
( Deut. 28:13 )
If you want a better visual of
today's story....
I strongly recommend the movie,
" Best of the
Best "
with Eric Roberts, Phillip Rhee, James Earl Jones,
John Dye and Christopher Penn.
James Earl Jones plays a Coach for Team USA
in a TaeKwondo Championship against Team Korea.
If you love the Martial Arts as much as I do,
this is a MUST SEE.
It's also about overcoming adversity
and
reaching your greatest potential.
" It's the diligent man who ultimately
prospers,
who ends up in a position of power and leadership"
(
Proverbs 13:4 )
" We plant by reaching out to others,
then we reap as God reaches out to us. "

A Psalm for Busy People
By Angelica Lobo,Residential and Commercial Investor
I stumbled on this
today…
A Psalm for Busy People
The Lord is my Pacesetter, I shall not rush
He makes me stop and rest for quiet intervals,
He provides me with images of stillness
which restore my serenity
He leads me in ways of efficiency, through calmness of mind.
And His guidance is peace.
Even though I have a great many things to accomplish each day
I will not fret.
For His presence is here; His timeliness, His all-importance
will keep me in balance.
He prepares refreshment and renewal for me
in the midst of my activity.
By anointing my mind with His oils of tranquility
My cup of joyous energy overflows.
Surely harmony and effectiveness
shall be the fruits of my hours.
For I shall walk in the pace of my Lord forever.
Amen.
God is my source of strength, my life. I am only a channel through which His Generosity and blessings flow. And I know that as I move on He will direct my path…
Reality Check(Rick's Video)
By Angelica Lobo,Residential and Commercial InvestorAnd you know what!!!
God talks more than anyone you will ever meet, and He talks as often as you need.
Intimacy with God and harmony with His plans for us will not be possible unless we discern His voice.
He knows what is best for us. When He gives us a mission He will provide and equip us with what we need to acomplish that.
But then, sometimes we get rebellious and just decide to follow our own minds and think that everything will be OK.
You know what happens !?!
It will go wrong, you will fell bad about what you are doing or with yourself. The point is, you will soon realize that you can not run or hide from your call.
But you know what is even better!?!
God is always ready to forgive us. He doesn't consult our past errors to determine our future. He's not concerned about what we did yesterday, but what we do today.
Forget your mistakes, but not the lessons learned.
Accept God's will for your life, trust Him and wait on Him.
"Those who listen to instruction will prosper"(Proverbs 16:20)
Rick Melero's Video, Rebellion and Lessons Learned
By Bob MullinsJust watched Rick Melero's video about his rebellion with God. Rick tells the story of how he worked tirelessly for a couple of months preparing for some missionary work in Mexico. When the time finally came for the trip to begin, Rick felt like he had given enough. He was tired, and wanted more time for himself. He decided that he would play a background roll during the trip and not preach as he was planned to do.
But the first day, upon seeing this tiny little church in the middle of nowhere begin to fill up with people seemingly coming out of the woods, Rick felt a strong urge that he must preach, he must get the word of God out himself. He realized his earlier decision not to preach was a selfish and rebellious one. He was rebelling because he was tired of giving his time and energy and felt he needed back some of that for himself.
Unprepared, he preached to these people and when he was done, they were grateful and thanked him for it. But maybe the biggest thank you was that the next day there were double the amount of people attending. Each day after that the attendance grew and grew and Rick knew, of course, he had done the right thing. He had put his rebellion behind and gave of himself to others, and in return they had given back to him. They gave back to him by making him understand that he needed to embrace the important work that God had for him, as He has for all of us. They had given Rick another life lesson learned, and another story to tell.
Paint your own picture
By Rick Melero, Commercial Investor, Real Estate Mentor, Member of HIS Board of AdvisorAfter working all day with prospective investors and local commercial property owners, I sat my students in the dining room patio of my hotel with an incredible view of the St. Thomas waters. Let me tell you… it truly is an incredible view. I love what I do because I get the opportunity to work on projects while training investors in unbelievable locations. I always tell people that “It’s a hard job, but some one has to do it.” ;)
All kidding aside, I had just finished covering 5 steps of my 7 steps to raising capital and was done for the day, when I ran into this very talented woman that was painting this beautiful picture on one of the blank walls of the hotel.

I asked her if she used a photograph or sketch to copy and paint on the wall and she told me that she goes off alone and looks at the waters while feeling the cool breeze of the ocean for hours. Her time with nature inspires a mental picture of where she is going to go with her work. When she can see this vividly with her eyes closed, she goes to the wall and makes it come to life. It’s a gift!!!
It is very clear that she loves what she does. So… after that conversation I went and sat down in the pool patio to reflect on my day and just relax with the amazingly “cool breeze” coming from the ocean. Then it hit me! I have met so many people who are trying to make a living out of some one else’s painting. If this is you, STOP! Sit back, relax and enjoy the process of getting your own picture.
Feel free to glean from others inspirations but you need to go out and get a clear picture of how to paint your very own. How many people do you know who toil and labor feeling miserable trying to be something they are not? STOP! Just find what makes you passionate, find what God created you to do and begin to enjoy and thrive in it. Incorporate that inspiration to your enterprise. Part of my painting is investing in income producing real estate. The other part is empowering others while enjoying the freedom to do what I do with my family.
Use your passion in your business and you will see “your picture” fulfilled before your very eyes. God gave you the gifts to fulfill your purpose so use them. Listen, life is too short to just exist. Find your picture, the picture that makes your heart smile, and when you can see it with your eyes closed, run to the blank wall and make it come to life.

Good Stewardship and Real Estate Investing
By Rick Melero, Commercial Investor, Real Estate Mentor, Member of HIS Board of AdvisorThink this "stewardship" doesn’t apply to you?
In the book of Matthew in the Bible, Jesus talks about three men who were given money to manage for the owner. One man, given the most to manage, went and found a way to double the amount his master gave him. The second man was given less to manage, but still found a way to double the master’s money. The third man, however, given the least amount, was afraid of what his master would do if he lost the money… so to protect what he was given he went and buried it.
Upon accounting for their actions to the owner, both the first and the second man were rewarded for their efforts. The master said to each: "Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master’s happiness."
For being fearful and not properly using what he was given, the master took the money the third servant had wastefully buried and gave it to a servant who had doubled his amount…then threw the "lazy" and "faithless" third servant off of his property.
What does this have to do with today?
For thousands and thousands of years, people have wanted to increase their possessions, knowledge, abilities, and experiences— and those who have consistently been able to do so have understood and applied a very simple concept.
Here is the clue… when you sow a seed of anything, you will reap a harvest of it.
We are HIS! Our place in this world is to serve as God’s stewards on earth, and our responsibility is to manage God’s "estate" and multiply whatever amount of anything God has given us.
Whether we are given most of time, talent, or treasures, it is our responsibility not to bury or hide them…we are to use them and invest them into those things that will not only multiply them, but in turn reap a harvest of eternal significance. That is truly being a good steward!
