The Prodigal Son (Is this the Same Story ?)

Published by: Anthony Williams on 24th Mar 2011 | View all blogs by Anthony Williams
Life has it's ups and downs,
sometimes it's seem as if it has more downs then up's ,
but that's just a trick of the hand .
(Luke 15:11-32) Dark on one side,
 light on the other.

In this Story of the Prodigal Son,
the Son was asked to leave !
(Please don't get hung up on the word
son here (Mentor /Student will do .)

I am back for round two , looking for the rewards ,
hopes, and promises of the first go around !
It's on your mind now ,  the big question  ,
who failed the student or the mentor ? Keep reading ,
I promise I will get to that in a minute.

This year I will not answer any of your questions ,
I  will not give you a catchy word to enchant your
mind with a beat and phase , to catch your mind and emotions.
(Is that what he did last year ? " The champ is here")

Think how powerful the word is , if you seen me on the
streets the first word that would pop into you head would be
"Oh , look the Champ is here."
lol - This is for Danny just in case you want to hear it again :

I am not going to say hey pick me , pick me ;
you know me , you have worked with me ,
you know how dedicated I can be.
This year it's not about getting into the challenge ,
it's about the networking ,
and being apart of a strong
group that has directions and  connections.

( Rick will atest to the fact that even
when I was out of the challenge
, I still called him when I had a lead
with a banker who was looking to buy up some property .)

( With me it's blood in blood out ! lol)

I think we all want something out of life ,
some  want to get rich , some want more time with family
and friends , some want a better postion in life ,
no matter what the want is ,
it's just a search for happiness and fulfilment in life.

Funny thing is, all the above does not  matter ,
because 98% that do get what they want,
still will not be happy. Happy today ,
and chasing another happiness tomorrow.
Over the pass year I have been learning
 contentment , and waiting.

It might sound like strange skills to learn in business,
but talk to the mob boss of His Real Estate Network ,
sorry I meant Board of Advisors.
( Men who have been in this business for a long time )
No disrepect , but in age is wisdom.
I want to be around people that help me to grow ,
and makes me to dig deep down inside and pull out the best.

Here is where I answer
the big question
, who failed,
the student or the mentor ?

Again , it's a trick of the hand !
Be very careful when you only have one side to a story .
You might just loss your equilibrium
trying to draw a conclusion to a point
that has no conclusion to draw. lol -

Up-down ,  black-white  ,      Cold-Hot, lets do the smart thing ,
 and stay in the middle.
If you think I am talking to you , I am ! (lol) :-)

The truth is a real mentor will not let a student fail ,
and a real student only has one goal ,
to learn from the mentor  to better
both his life and the mentor's life .

Final conclusion , I would love to be apart
of His Network group , but not as a student ,
I feel I have proven myself last year ,
I did not leave , I was asked to leave .

Signed the Prodigal Son .

Who said in truth is love?
I don't know but it rings truth to me !

Welcome back to the fight Champ. You certainly have the skills & talent necessary to succeed in whatever you put your mind to...But I wholeheartedly disagree with your statement that a Real Mentor will not let a student fail....All the best my man

"to answer your question I just dont believe it's all on the mentor as to whether the student makes it or fails...you know "You can lead the Horse, but cant make him drink""

I agree ! Moreover ; not all mentors are created equal , some mentors only have their interest in mind, in the post I was speaking more so on a relationship aspect of a mentorship.

Money or time is traded for a mentorship program , which I see nothing wrong with that , but when you have a one sided program where only the mentor benefits, and the student that has been working for 3 -4 months or that went through the program , and sees no benefits being produced for him/herself , the only one benefiting is the mentor by all the free work that is being produced by the student.

The mentor then can make the claim that that the student did not stick to it , and did not get the results . If the student is not producing the same amount of work the student is asked to leave. Most of the claims (promises ) is only a way to keep the students working for free in benefit of the mentor. Most of these promises are not fulfilled in anyway .

Where I am from they call it "pimping." Keep feeding the girl(student ) promises that will not be given , or give very small things to keep the girl hooked. (Pimping ain't easy , but somebody has to do it! )
( In no way am I refer to anyone in general , I am just saying things that I have seen. )

In conclusion, I agree , but lets have a mutual understanding of what a real mentor is .

My man I cant help but believe you are calling Rick & Danny out. Your blog cannot be taken in any other way. Just how I see it. Good to get it out though. I've had many mentors in my life, & I did learn from each of them, & even the "pimps". And just as n FYI Rick & Danny are not doing the picking this year! You're a good man, keep it comin & if I can assist don't hesitate to shout out.

I've never been called a "Pimp" before lol.

Anthony- I hope you remember that Danny or I did not kick you out, your team and peers felt you did not add enough value to the team. You understood the terms since you also voted others out before you for that same reason.

In a mentorship relationship, the mentor is responsible for creating a learning environment and pouring the knowledge while challenging and encouraging the student to apply it. The students responsibility is to take that information and bring it to life. That's with any arrangement of time or money.

From our very first call I told you that I saw HUGE Potential in you and I am still convinced that I am right. That's why I spend extra time calling you while you were still in the team encouraging you and giving you quick strategies to get results. It is what it is.

In this world, there is a massive difference between "Potential" and "Manifestation" of that potential. As a mentor, I want to challenge you this year to take all of your potential and create a real manifestation of success. You will do that as you take what you've learned and put it to work daily. Don't think about it, just start moving forward. You are worth it and your family deserves it.

By the way, Sam is doing just that and he already owns a killer deal in California and has several investors in the pipeline to do more. If he can do it, you can too.

Anthony, I see quite a bit of anger that is pent up in you. Darlene has networked with you. She said you were always so inspirational. I have just learned that you have moved from Louisiana. I hope the move was for a meanful purpose. You do have drive from what Darlene has told me; but in your post here as well. I must correct you about the prodigal son; if I remember correctly; he wanted to see the other places, away from his family and friends. He ask for an inheritance; not what he would have been entitled to at his father's death. I do not remember that he was asked to leave. It was in the form of monies. He lived a fast lifestyle; as we would phrase it today, until he had spent all his fortune. He was destitute. Remember where he found himself eating. He knew that even his father's servants were eating better than he was. He returned to his father's home and was welcomed home with open arms. Remember the feast he had for him. Anthony, this is your chance to enjoy the fruits of his/their labors. Remember these people were/are here to mentor you. If they ask you to wash dishes, do it. If they give you a task and you need help, while giving you a strong recommendation, do it. If you have been scolded and feel like you have been paddled; then kiss the paddle and ask for more assistance or networking or whatever it takes to get the assigned task done. Tell them you WILL get it done and do it; whatever it takes; as long as it is legal, moral and ethical. I wasn't there, so I can only surmise what has/had taken place; that in one way or another you did not find a way to give the necessary input, value or drive to satisfy your mentors or peers. I sounds like your peers voted you to leave, as they posted in the above mentioned. Drive and determination are necessary qualities to survive and achieve. But name calling as if you were not in a professional place, is NOT a proper approach to endearing someone to give you another chance. They have stated that they know you have potential and you are welcome to reapply. Most apprenticeships would not even consider allowing you to attempt to apply again. And working in a professional environment; that would never be acceptable. I know you may feel that I am assessing you when I was not there; however, I have worked with many vocational and management people and one soon is able to determine what is the best direction for their person. In this case; it sounds like it was a jury of your peers and they finally decided that you were not the best fit, they had hoped for in the group. I believe the chosen for the Challenge should and could easily be a strong mastermind group; with a plan for a cohesive, prosperous, timely and positive environment. I saw a rant here and not an accountability for your portion of the assigned tasks. I am not here to condemn you; only to give you an objective perspective; without all the emotion envolved in last year's challenge. If I can be of assistance to you; please do not hesitate to contact me. I only want what is best for you and everyone in this great Challenge and network. I know you can do it. The professional manner you present yourself means alot. It has been said that you never get another chance to make a first impression. You are being given that chance for a fresh approach. Remember they are on your side; as evidenced in their reply. They were very professional in response to your application; even with the name calling; and even if you did not state names. Now, man up and be all you can be. Hope this helps in all your endeavors.

LOL, :-)Thanks for the kind words Rick , It is what it is , water under the bridge . Goodness Jim , you wrote a book , I have to go get some rest now , and come back and read all that you wrote ..lol -

No correction is needed on your part about the story above ( Is this the same story ?)
It was not meant to mimic the bible story ;that was the reason for the question.

I called no one any names , I was speaking in general . Things that I have experienced from working with different people. I should have used a quote that would have been better ..lol -Just kidding !

Jim, you had many good points ,but some you were way off . To think that I hold anger against two people that I respect in this business is just wrong !

Thanks for the encouragement .. All the best !

Anthony, I did not mean that you hold anger at any ONE OR TWO people; but the situation that ocurred could have caused pent up anger. Darlene has told me you know the Bible well. The only reason I even mentioned the correction was because the analogy of being ask to leave was not equivalent. I did not mean to write an epistle; however, I felt so strongly that you have so much potential that I would hate to see it used for a loss. You did; however, make a good case for people to feel certain people were being called out. Be that as it may, you are very knowledgeable and creative, as shown in you post. Many can not create video in their posts. I certainly have not posted my first video yet. We all have strengths and weaknessess. I know everyone wants you to succeed. Now, go out and show your REAL potential. You have the drive or you would not have tried to reapply. Make all your life positive and you will succeed. All the best and thank you for accepting my post and replying to me. That means a lot to me that you would respond in the manner you did; when we have not networked, except for you accepting my friend request. I want to be your friend and if that means talking to you as a Dutch Uncle; maybe we can clear the air and you will use your fresh approach to be accepted this year. Take care.
