Best Inspirational Movies of All Time

August 1st, 2009 35 comments

Have you ever gotten pumped up by watching an inspirational, feel-good, or action-packed movie? One that made you feel awesome for days afterward or made you feel like you could do just about anything? These inspirational movies have real POWER to keep us motivated and I watch movies like this whenever I get a chance.

The general who leads his men into battle against all odds. The entrepreneur who wouldn’t quit. The teacher who really cares about her students. The man who goes to great lengths pursuing the woman of his dreams. The scrappy underdog who wins out in the end. The woman who overcomes every obstacle to build a better life for her family. The athlete that rises to a level of excellence never before seen. The trials and tribulations of ordinary people placed in extreme situations and responding with extraordinary courage.

I’ve always thought it would be cool if we could get everyone in our happy investor community to share what they feel are the greatest personal growth / feel good movies. Imagine how awesome it would be to have an ever-growing list of the best motivational movies recommended by some of the most ambitious and hard-working people out there— your fellow community members.

Here’s that growing list.

If you love inspirational movies like I do, please jump in the game and let’s make this easy for everyone. These can be feature length movies or just inspirational videos or documentaries of some kind. If it made you jump up and cheer, pull out your hair worrying for the good guy, or gave you cold chills when the hero triumphed in the end…tell us all about it!

To keep things simple let’s all follow the following format.

#. Title of move. “Most memorable best line of dialogue in the movie” (optional if you remember)

And just add your numbered list to the highest number already posted, ok?

Best Inspirational Movies of All Time (in no particular order)

Fifty thousand men died right here on this field, fighting the same fight that we are still fighting among ourselves today. This green field right here, painted red, bubblin’ with the blood of young boys. Smoke and hot lead pouring right through their bodies. Listen to their souls, men. I killed my brother with malice in my heart. Hatred destroyed my family. You listen, and you take a lesson from the dead.”)
35. Gandhi

54. Rounders (“First prize at the World Series of Poker is a million bucks. Does it have my name on it? I don’t know. But, I’m gonna find out.”)

That’s all I can think of personally after almost a week of adding to this list and I had to look up some of the quotes on IMDB.com.

Whoever wants to start adding some just start at #55. And I’ll get my Netflix account ready for some new movies to rent! ;)

This is a great idea! I always wanted to know various movies that motivate/inspire people! Here is my list of inspiring/motivating movies!

    59. Man without a Face
    60. The Fisher King (“See… guy goes to work every day, eight hours a day, seven days a week. Gets his nuts so tight in a vice that he starts questioning the very fabric of his existence.”)
    61. Cinderella Man (“I have to believe that when things are bad I can change them.”)
    62. Lean on Me
    63. Michael Jordan the Max (“Come fly with me…”)

That movie gets me revved up every time, to see a top performer at the top of his game with the drive and determination to succeed unmatched in his game! It was filmed for the big screen IMAX theaters and it is awesome! “Come fly with me” says Jordan…and every time I do.

What a story! The best teacher story of all time. This guy changed a whole city with discipline and a big heart- and calculus for kids in the ghetto! All teachers should be that way….;)
    - Toretto

Man YOU TOOK ALL MY FAVES…

MY FAVES ARE BELOW HERE. I WILL NEED TO THINK ON SOME OTHER ONES TO KEEP THE CHAIN GOING…

    1. Pursuit Of Happyness (“You got a dream… You gotta protect it. People can’t do somethin’ themselves, they wanna tell you you can’t do it. If you want somethin’, go get it. Period.”) I LOVE IT!

    2. The Passion of Christ (Made a huge impact in the way I saw the price Jesus paid for me…)

  • Danny Welsh, CMO of HIS, Greatest Real Estate Giveaway Director
GREAT kids movies (with great messages for adults)…
    73. Spirit Stallion of the Cimarron (“Sometimes a horse has got to do what a horse has got to do.”)
    74. Homeward Bound (“My name is Chance. I know, it sounds odd, but most names do if you think about it long enough… maybe even yours. I was abandoned when I was very young. I lived on the streets scranging for food sleeping wherever I could; that seemed like fun at first, but pretty soon, it landed me behind bars. But I don’t like to talk about that; let’s talk about after that… when I got my second chance… and my name. You see, this family came along, and I guess you can say they rescued me, because they adopted me and brought me to live at their house. But it was their home, not mine. Still, it was an improvement over that other place: lots of space, fresh air, plenty interesting things to explore, and all the underwear I could eat.”)
    75. Eight Below Zero (“These dogs are my family. You can’t just leave them out there.”)
    76. D2: Mighty Ducks 2 (“This is a distraction-in-a-fire-in-a-barrel. Any questions?)

Got those quotes from http://www.IMDB.com they have quotes for almost every movie!

    Absolutely.

    117. Invincible about Vince Papale and Dick Vermeil is great.

Miracle about Herb Brooks and the 1980 Olympic hockey team is great. The Band of Brothers HBO series has powerful messages. But more of my motivation comes from books I have read about the things people overcome in their lives that make our challenges seem miniscule
